Shot over a three-year period in America, Britain, Lebanon, and Pakistan, Holy Wars follows a danger-seeking Christian missionary and a radical Irish Muslim convert, both of whom believe in an apocalyptic battle, after which their religion will ultimately rule the world. Tracking their lives from the onset of the “War on Terror” through the election of Barack Obama, Holy Wars shows that even the most radical of believers can be transformed by our changing world.
Holy Wars was edited by Dan Swietlik (Inconvenient Truth, SiCKO) and is currently touring festivals. The critically-acclaimed film has been selected for competition at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals, including AFI/Discovery Silverdocs and IDFA. Variety‘s Justin Chang wrote, “[Marshall's] cool, agnostic approach effectively modulates the intense battle of wills that develops between the uniquely compelling subjects.” Moviefone chose it as “one of the best documentaries of 2010.” The film was produced in association with Smuggler.
